Hi, I’m Chef Heather! Thanks for taking the time to learn more about my business!
I have always been passionate about food and cooking. After years of cooking at home for family and friends, I finally took the plunge and decided to make a career of it. A degree in Culinary Arts, from Chicago’s Kendall College, broadened my knowledge, but years of working as a caterer and line cook in fine restaurants and hotels is what refined and developed my skills. I learned so much about taste, presentation, and the overall dining experience – all those little extras that help to make restaurant food so special. But working in restaurants, I missed out on the intimacy of cooking to individual taste. Knowing my clients as a Personal Chef is so much more satisfying than cooking for anonymous restaurant goers.
Having lived and traveled all over the world and the US has definitely impacted my palate and cooking style – but no matter the style of the dish, my focus is always on fresh, seasonal ingredients. My family and I have definitely found our home in Austin – you’ll often find me wandering the produce section at Central Market or browsing the stands at the Sunset Valley Farmers Market – nothing could make me happier!
Most of all, I believe it’s the little things that transform good food into the sublime. Sometimes the most simple, basic ingredients, when treated right and combined in the right ways, can make the most astonishing dishes. And that’s something that everyone, from the pickiest ten-year old to the most refined gourmand, can pick up on.
The best benefit of this style of cooking is you can eat healthy without sacrificing taste. My food nourishes the body and satisfies the soul, with high quality, flavorful ingredients and absolutely no artificial chemicals or preservatives. I hope you’ll get the chance to experience what I’m talking about – please contact me to discuss what YOU think makes great food!
