ABOUT THE CHEF
CUSTOMIZED MEALS FOR BUSY FOODLOVERS IN THE GREATER AUSTIN AREA

What is the difference between a caterer, a private chef and a personal chef?

A caterer typically works out of a commercial kitchen, preparing meals for large groups off-site and then delivering them on the day of service.

A private chef usually is the employee of one household, planning and cooking all their meals on a daily basis. They often live and travel with the families they cook for.

A personal chef serves many different clients, typically one a day, cooking in the client’s own home. A personal chef service includes menu planning, grocery shopping, cooking, packaging of meals and clean up – consider it like having a private chef for a day! Rather than preparing just the day’s meals, a personal chef will prepare multiple meals in one visit, designed to be heated and enjoyed later at their clients leisure.

What takes place at the free consultation?

At your in-home consultation, we will go over all your specific tastes and needs to ensure that your goals in hiring a personal chef are being met. We will go over food likes and dislikes, allergies, dietary restrictions, eating patterns, everything that will help Chickpea Gourmet to design a service that will work for you.

Can you accommodate a specific diet?

Definitely! We can cook for diabetics, vegetarians, or anyone else following a specialized diet. If you have a dietitian, let us know, so we can work with them to design a specialized menu.

Chickpea Gourmet does NOT currently have a registered dietitian on staff, and as such is not qualified to prescribe a specific eating regime. Beware of services that offer nutritional advice without qualifications!

What if my kitchen is small, or not very well stocked?

Not a problem! Chef Heather is used to sharing a small commercial kitchen with lots of other cooks - not to mention years of experience with apartment kitchens. And at your initial consultation, she’ll determine if there is anything needed to prepare your meals that you don’t already have, and simply bring it with her. All you need is space in your refrigerator to store your meals.
